This wasn’t a BWF tournament. Their rules of conduct — which are NOT part of the rules and regulations for the game of badminton — are certainly not binding for the O.G. who have their own code of conduct, consisting mainly of prohibiting free speech, and publicity for any company that didn’t bribe the IOC.

I wonder which basis — apart from corruption — this disqualification might have, at least I can’t see anything in the statutes.
Why not disqualify all those runners who “don’t give their best” in the heats?
These tactics happen wherever there are groups, instead of a k.o. system from the beginning.

The 8 players were disqualified by the BWF, but who would disqualify the BWF committee for imposing faulty new systems?

  4. rcasoundhmv

Since the 8 players are disqualified, the Badminton World Federation officials who set up the new corked up system with loopholes, should also be called to RESIGN.

  5. rcasoundhmv

Of course. Denmark and you are happy that the 8 are disqualified. So that Thomas Lund would continue his Western proceeds to win by lobesided rules and systems. The world saw what was there and what is coming.

I am sure the only reason they (china) lost on purpose was that they didn’t want to face the other chinese team (which they would have if they won the match). => meeting them => less medals.

so Im happy they got disqualified, since I think its not “sporty” and not acceptable, and that other teams got their (all 4 teams that got disqualified) spot.

Wrong rules hence wrong playing attitude.
The Badminton World Federation could have been more attributive to the players strategized behaviour. The BWF could be blameworthy.

Ummm might want to reread his comment, he wasn’t saying they were trying to fix the tournament he was saying the Olympics should fix the tournament. This is the first year that they haven’t just played single elimination but also added a group style round robin tournament. It obviously didn’t work and they are saying that the tournament needs to be fixed as well as the system.

They were not trying to fix the tournament! They were trying to lose on purpose so they could face an easier team. I’m glad That they get disqualified because it was fair trying to lose on purpose is just poor sports trying to face a better team not trying to fix the tournament or the system!

Nobody seems to see the biggest problem of trying to lose: what if your opponent also try to lose, then we have a very funny game. Obviously the player’s coach did not figure out this: what should you do if the other side also try to lose, what do you do then? When both sides try to lose, the game become a very ugly match, so the badminton authority have no choice to make the penalty call.

You really can’t blame the chinese for this. It’s the system’s fault, make it a system where winning is the best option, just as it is in any other sport or competition!

  14. Michael Bosomworth

For everyone saying this was a fixed game or fault of the system it wasn’t, the reason they were both deliberately trying to lose was because the winner of this match would of had to go against the Chinese who are by far the best in the world and neither of them wanted to face the Chinese so they were both trying to lose.

    Wow china.. Damn communists

sure it’s bad the players put on such show but can’t really blame the players, they’re just trying to advance….fix the tournament and the system!!!

Historically, nobody wanted to lose in the badminton competition but why has this happened to this game? Why? The new system or the people? Who in the right frame of mind would not want to win a competition but when competition is no longer competition but giving another chance of changes, would you be stupid enough not to do so?

  21. rcasoundhmv

Is it the fault of the players or an attributed fault of the new systems?
